Human Systems Integration (HSI) is
the marriage of systems engineering and behavioral science. SHARP’s
staff of former commanding officers through senior enlisted leaders,
registered Professional Engineers (PE) and certified Associates in Risk
Management (ARM) bring broad and thoughtful insight to Human Systems
Integration in Hull, Mechanical and Electrical areas of ship design and
in-service support. Services are offered under SHARP’s Professional
Engineering Services, Information Technology, and Management
Organization Business Improvement Services (MOBIS) GSA Schedules.
Experience

Systems Safety—Thirty
years of continuous support to NAVSEA and MARAD.
Damage Control, Survivability, Recoverability—Support
to every major surface ship acquisition program since LFT&E legislation.
Special interest in Battle Damage Repair.
Automation—Design for civilian
modification of USN:MSC transfers. State-of-art commercial controls
design for vessels now under construction.
Ergonomics / Human Factors Engineering—Review
of machinery space arrangements for maintenance by mixed gender crews.
New ship detail design review for human factors.
Risk Management in Design—Performance-based
design for life saving equipment in recent new vessel design cited to
industry by USCG as “best practice”.
Maintenance Engineering—We seek
better ways to attack what really bugged us in ships. Engineering for
Reduced Maintenance. Current contracts involve watertight doors,
corrosion control, air filtration, and solid and liquid waste systems.
Quality of Life / Quality of Service—Largest
installer of habitability upgrades and modernization for USN over last
20 years.
Training—Staff experience in
leadership of CNET and Fleet Training Activities, Master Training
Specialists, Master Instructors, national award winner for engineering
training (ASNE), M/P/T trade-offs, NAVMAC manning algorithms, technical
documentation development including in support of technical training.
Change Management Support—Smart
Carrier Business Process Review / Enterprise modeling / IT solutions.
Staff experience in shore support change including leadership positions
in regionalization, BRAC, Tactical Training Strategy and other
infrastructure initiatives of the last ten years.
